About the role

Passionate about solving complex business challenges, working with emerging technologies, and helping organisations navigate uncertainty with confidence? Join Deloitte's Risk & Regulatory team and help New Zealand's leading organisations manage risk, improve performance and deliver sustainable outcomes.

Like trust, value takes years to build and moments to destroy.

Our Risk & Regulatory team helps clients build confidence in their decisions, systems and processes. We combine expertise in risk, regulation, technology and data to help organisations navigate change, strengthen governance and achieve their strategic objectives.

We challenge traditional approaches to risk management by focusing on what must go right, leveraging data analytics, emerging technologies, GRC solutions and AI to deliver practical, sustainable outcomes. Working alongside clients, you'll help solve complex business challenges, support transformation initiatives and create lasting value for organisations and their stakeholders.

As an intern, you'll work alongside experienced practitioners on a diverse range of client engagements across industries and sectors.

Your day could include:

  • Working with clients to understand business challenges and develop practical, risk-informed solutions.
  • Using data analytics, AI and technology-enabled tools to identify insights and support better decision-making.
  • Supporting governance, risk and business transformation initiatives.
  • Analysing how people, processes, systems and technology work together to improve organisational performance.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions for clients.
  • Developing consulting, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills through hands-on project experience.

Enough about us, let's talk about you.

We're looking for curious, collaborative and adaptable problem solvers who are excited by the opportunity to make an impact.

You are someone who:

  • Currently completing a degree in Law, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Commerce, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Enjoys solving complex problems and applying analytical and critical thinking.
  • Adept at using technologies such as AI to solve problems or undertake research and development of solutions.
  • Is curious about how organisations operate and how technology, risk and regulation influence business outcomes.
  • Has an interest in data, emerging technologies and innovation.
  • Communicates effectively and enjoys working with a diverse range of people.
  • Works well in teams and values collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, resilience and a willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Is motivated to create meaningful outcomes for clients, stakeholders and communities.

What do I need to apply?

  • An up-to-date CV
  • A cover letter introducing yourself and telling us why you are interested in the role
  • An academic transcript (does not have to be official, but must show recent grades, your full name, and the name of the tertiary provider)
  • The legal right to live and work in Aotearoa
