About the role

We’re currently seeking a 3D Game Artist (modeling and texturing) for a short-term contract with an immediate/asap start date, to assist us with the development of a currently unannounced project.

This is a paid, part-time and remote contract position with flexible hours.

This position is a mix of both independent work and interfacing with other members of our team, both via Discord messaging and team meeting calls (typically occurring at least once a week). The initial contract duration is expected to be approximately 2-3 months, with possibility of further work available upon completion. Pay is an hourly rate, to be negotiated based on experience.

Grumpyface Studios (that’s us!) is the developer of Steven Universe: Save the Light , Steven Universe: Unleash the Light , Teeny Titans , Teen Titans GO!: Figure , Castle Doombad , and more! We’re a small but close-knit team that loves games (of all types!) and creative collaboration is our jam.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • REQUIRED: Captivating online portfolio showcasing your best work and a strong grasp of fundamentals
  • REQUIRED: At least two years of experience 3D modeling, working with UVs and texturing
  • REQUIRED: Your portfolio must have at least one example of low-poly game model work, and also must show off at least one wireframe example with efficient topology
  • REQUIRED: Your portfolio must have at least one work sample with a style and sensibility that’s a good match with our other work ( Castle Doombad , Steven Universe: The Light Series , Teeny Titans , Seafrog , etc), i.e. something colorful and all-ages friendly.
  • REQUIRED: Great communication and collaboration skills; ability to work closely with a team of other artists/developers and comfortable taking and giving critique
  • Interested in being part of an energetic team that’s passionate about games and loves having fun on the job!
  • The following are a plus, but not required: Game industry or animation industry experience, experience working in a game engine, work samples of other art mediums (2D Illustration, animation, etc), work experience on shipped games
