CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Promotion: Appraiser Trainees are eligible for promotion to Appraiser I ($64,750.40 - $88,940.80 annually) upon meeting the minimum requirements for that class including obtaining, within one (1) year of employment, a valid permanent Appraiser's Certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization and receiving a satisfactory work performance evaluation. Incumbents must promote within eighteen (18) months or be terminated. Likewise, Appraisers I are eligible for promotion to Appraiser II (Up to $103,708 annually) within 24 months or employment will be terminated. Regular status can only be achieved at the Appraiser II level.
Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained. Offices are located in Big Bear, Hesperia, Joshua Tree, Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino and Twin Peaks.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Minimum Requirements
OPTION 2
- A licensed real property appraiser (BREA Residential or higher), building cost estimator, accountant, or engineer.
- A California real estate licensee engaged in buying, selling, or leasing real estate.
- An Appraiser Aide/Technician or higher in a county or state office performing valuations for assessment purposes or for the California State Board of Equalization.
- An employee of an Assessor's office (other than Appraiser Aide/Technician or higher) or property tax department of the California State Board of Equalization except that such employment time shall be limited to qualifying for only 32 months of the four-year experience requirement. The remaining amount of time shall be accumulated by other relevant experience described above or by education in an accredited institution of higher education in the academic fields listed above.

Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and computer skills, have the ability to manage large appraisal workloads with a high degree of independence, and be willing to travel to district offices as needed.
