About the role
Position Summary
The Automation Specialist develops, implements, and maintains automation workflows, scripts, and orchestration routines supporting change management, configuration management, and DevSecOps release oversight within Functional Area 3. The Specialist leverages Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and AIOps capabilities to convert repetitive manual tasks into automated, repeatable, measurable outcomes — and applies analytics and machine-learning-driven insights to proactively identify, correlate, and resolve issues, optimize capacity and performance, and ensure compliance with customer governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automation workflows, scripts, templates, and orchestration routines (IaC, RPA, CI/CD-adjacent tooling).
- Implement AIOps capabilities: event correlation, anomaly detection, and ML-driven operational decision support.
- Automate change/configuration management tasks and DevSecOps release oversight activities in ServiceNow and related tooling.
- Apply analytics to detect operational drift and emerging failure conditions; support incident resolution and service restoration.
- Optimize capacity, performance, and cost across cloud-native and virtualized environments.
- Collaborate with infrastructure automation teams, other contractor teams, and government stakeholders; meet defined SLAs.
- Document automation assets and ensure compliance with customer governance frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in automation engineering, DevOps, or IT operations automation (with Bachelor's degree).
- Hands-on expertise with automation technologies: Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), RPA, and orchestration tools.
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for workflow automation.
- Working knowledge of AIOps practices — using AI/ML for operational decision support.
- Technical knowledge of cloud-native environments, virtualization platforms, and enterprise storage systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills; experience meeting service delivery SLAs.
- Ability to obtain a federal Public Trust suitability determination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with scikit-learn, pandas, and TensorFlow-based ML models; exposure to NLP or computer vision.
- Knowledge of AI/ML pipelines and foundation-model prompt engineering.
- Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost-management tools.
- Experience with ServiceNow, enterprise monitoring tools, and configuration repositories.
- Prior federal contracting experience.
- Certifications: CKA/CKAD, AWS ML Specialty or GCP Professional ML Engineer, cloud associate-level or higher, ITIL 4.
Location
- DMV Metro preferred; hybrid Government site / remote per customer direction
Clearance / Suitability
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust suitability determination; U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required
Start
- Contingent upon contract award and customer entrance-on-duty (EOD) approval
