About the role
Responsibilities
- Review software source code for quality, readability, consistency, and adherence to client standards.
- Analyze pull requests (PRs) and provide detailed feedback in accordance with established review guidelines.
- Ensure code changes comply with documented coding standards, security requirements, and development best practices.
- Document findings clearly and professionally.
- Follow established workflows and approval processes for code reviews.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of proprietary source code and client information.
- Work independently while meeting project deadlines.
- Collaborate remotely with project stakeholders as needed.
- Adhere to all client security protocols throughout the engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Technical Writing, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience reviewing software code in a professional development environment.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Git workflows, and pull request review processes.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to understand software architecture and identify inconsistencies or quality issues.
- Comfortable working within highly structured development processes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be located within the continental United States.
- Must be available to begin work immediately.
- Must be willing to work primarily during Eastern Time business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with one or more of the following backgrounds are strongly preferred:
Ideal Candidate
- Technical Writer with experience documenting software systems, APIs, developer documentation, or engineering processes.
- Experience participating in code reviews or reviewing technical implementations.
Highly Preferred Alternative
- Senior Software Engineer with experience at a large, technology-driven organization.
- Experience working within mature engineering organizations that have structured pull request approval processes.
- Experience reviewing large volumes of code and mentoring developers through code review feedback.
Additional Preferred Experience
- Experience with GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, or similar source control platforms.
- Familiarity with software engineering best practices and secure development principles.
- Experience working with enterprise software development teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify subtle issues within code changes.
Security & Compliance Requirements
Selected candidates must be willing to:
- Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to beginning work.
- Successfully complete a basic criminal background check.
- Complete an identity verification process, including:
- Government-issued photo ID verification.
- Selfie/photo matching verification.
- Follow all client security policies and procedures.
- Perform all work without the use of AI coding assistants, Large Language Models (LLMs), or generative AI tools.
- Handle sensitive and proprietary client information with the highest level of confidentiality.

Contract Details
- Employment Type: Independent Contractor or Contract (1099/W-2 based on engagement)
- Duration: Approximately 1 month with potential extension
- Location: Fully Remote (Continental U.S. only)
- Schedule: Full-time preferred; Eastern Time business hours strongly preferred
- Start Date: Immediate
