About the role
Costain are working with Thames Water on a variety of water and wastewater projects and have fantastic opportunities for individuals to join our growing AMP8 delivery team, working predominantly across the Thames Valley and Thames South regions. There is a mix of projects ranging from smaller capital maintenance to large civil new build schemes.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Engineer (MEICA) to join our Thames Water Framework.

- Responsibilities: Oversee commissioning and systems integration activities across the project lifecycle
- Undertake a front-line supervisor role subject to assessment and training
Configure and calibrate analytical equipment; integrate with monitoring systems
Provide progress and status reporting to the Core Management Team
Review and approve RAMS for commissioning activities
Supervise and inspect subcontractor installations, ensuring compliance with quality standards and ITPs
Manage installation activities and produce documentation for project close-out
Lead Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) in line with ITPs
Coordinate commissioning plans and ensure completion of all associated documentation
Deliver training to operations teams on new process plant and equipment
Act as front-line supervisor during commissioning and installation phases
Role required to ensure safe, compliant, and timely delivery of commissioning activities
Undertake either an electrical AP or mechanical AP role subject to assessment and training.
- Qualifications: Experience
- CompEx Qualifications preferred
Candidates must have experience with a main contractor working on Water and Wastewater Process Engineering projects.
HNC / Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline or engineering apprenticeship & NVQ with experience of engineering in a multi-discipline environment.
Professional registration & membership is an advantage.
Knowledge of the commissioning & installation processes of electrical and mechanical contractors.
Proven skills on installation & commissioning projects through to handover.
Knowledge of Standards, Safety Rules and Statutory Legislation required on the projects.
Proven experience preferably in a commissioning role in the Water Industry.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment, although must be able to self-manage.
Demonstrate ability to challenge and deliver value engineering solutions.
Able to lead site teams when required.
Qualifications
ECS (CSCS) card required.
Water Hygiene card required
SSSTS or SMSTS required
BS7671 18th Edition required
First Aid at work required
