We provide structural steel solutions ranging from small residential applications to large-scale commercial and industrial developments, including design support, 3D modelling, fabrication and installation services.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Estimator to join our team on a full-time basis.

Position Overview

Responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for structural steel fabrication and installation projects. The role involves analysing engineering and architectural documentation, calculating material and labour requirements, obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing, and supporting project delivery through effective cost planning and estimating. Involvement in tender settlement, cost planning, supplier negotiations, and project budget forecasting

Key Duties and Responsibilities

· Review and interpret structural, architectural and engineering drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

· Perform detailed quantity take-offs for structural steel components, including beams, columns, lintels, bracing systems, platework and associated materials.

· Calculate project costs, including materials, fabrication, labour, transport, craneage, installation and subcontractor services.

· Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, budgets and tender submissions for residential, commercial, industrial and mining projects.

· Liaise with engineers, architects, project managers, clients and contractors to clarify project requirements and specifications.

· Assess project risks, site conditions and construction methodologies affecting project costs and delivery.

· Prepare and maintain estimating databases, cost records and pricing schedules.

· Assist management in tender reviews, contract negotiations and project handovers.

· Monitor market pricing trends for steel products, fabrication processes and construction services.

· Support project planning by providing cost forecasts, material schedules and estimating reports.

· Ensure all estimates comply with relevant Australian Standards, building codes, safety requirements and company procedures.

Skills and Experience

· Diploma, Advanced Diploma or higher qualification in Building, Construction, Engineering or a related discipline.

· Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience as a Construction Estimator, Steel Estimator, Building Estimator or similar role.

· Strong ability to read and interpret structural and engineering drawings.

· Experience estimating structural steel fabrication and installation projects.

· Sound knowledge of construction methods, steel products and fabrication processes.

· Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel and construction management systems.

· Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines.
