About the role

Controls Engineer

The Role

Genesis Systems is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of control systems across our atmospheric water generation product line. This position combines controls engineering with hands-on prototype development: you will define control architecture and programming while also building and commissioning the physical systems that validate those designs. The ideal candidate is a practicing engineer who moves fluidly between the design desk, the control panel, and the test bench, and who can carry a concept from initial requirements to a functioning, field-ready machine.

What You'll Do

  • Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for water generation, refrigeration, and fluid-handling equipment
  • Build working prototypes of industrial systems — from control panel layout and wiring through sensor integration and startup
  • Specify and integrate instrumentation: flow, temperature, humidity, pressure, current sensing, and 4–20mA / pulse-output devices
  • Read, redline, and produce electrical schematics, panel drawings, and I/O lists
  • Troubleshoot control and electrical issues on prototypes and fielded units, and drive fixes back into the design
  • Partner with mechanical, refrigeration, and software engineers to take systems from concept through production release
  • Support design for manufacturability as prototypes transition to the assembly floor

What You Bring

  • 3+ years designing and programming PLC-based industrial control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, or similar)
  • Strong hands-on electrical skills — panel build, wiring, sensor and actuator integration, VFDs, motor controls, and safe troubleshooting of low- and line-voltage systems
  • Ability to work from and create electrical schematics and control diagrams
  • Working knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, CAN)
  • A prototyping mindset: resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity, and willing to build it yourself to find out if it works
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience

Nice to Have

  • Robotics experience — industrial arms, motion control, automated assembly or test cells
  • Embedded/microcontroller development (ESP32, Raspberry Pi, C/C++, Python)
  • IoT and remote telemetry, including cloud-connected fleets
  • HMI/SCADA development
  • Refrigeration, HVAC, or fluid systems background
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical hardware environments

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,500.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Life insurance
