About the role

Job Summary:

Maintain the computer systems, software and equipment for the graphic design and printmaking programs while supervising student assistants and managing the student service office. Provide individual instruction, project assistance and troubleshooting to students, faculty and staff the School’s Print Services lab. Provide support to the Myers School of Art that may include design and production of visual collateral, website support, archival / organization of digital materials, assist faculty with committee work, and managing the budget.

Essential Functions:

35% Provides instructional support and creative critique for students, faculty, and staff. Aids faculty and students with designing, producing, printing, and trouble-shooting files in the graphic design and printmaking department. Manages the Print Services lab. Oversees daily functions including maintaining the budget, ordering supplies, and coordinating servicing with internal and external vendors.

25% Maintains computer equipment and graphic / printmaking software as well as other related miscellaneous equipment. Coordinate repairs, upgrades and purchases with university IT department. Secures and maintains classrooms, equipment and supplies for graphic design and printmaking programs. Teaching faculty and staff to ensure a safe and well-maintained area.

20% Designs and internally produces print and digital materials including awards, certificates, buttons, collaterals, giveaways, social media, web and presentation materials along with any other Myers related materials.

10% Hires and supervises student assistants working in the Print Services lab.

10% Assist the Myers School of Art with tech support or assists in coordinating with Printing Servies, IT and AV Services.

Education:

Requires a relevant bachelor’s degree

Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:

None.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in the operation, maintenance of industry standard equipment, and production relating to graphic design and printmaking processes. Software skills including Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office and Google Docs.

Strong customer service and organizational skills required. Ability to provide instruction, demonstration and problem solving as required. Managerial and supervisory experience preferred.

Leadership:

Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or temporary workers.

Physical Requirements:

Job is physically comfortable; moderate physical effort required periodically. May occasionally lift moderately heavy items (50 lbs.)

Working Conditions:

Standard working environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions and/or minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems and/or up to 40% use of computer terminal.
