We're seeking a Data Scientist to join the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), working within the Data Science and Automation Program.

This role focuses on developing and delivering AI-enabled data science solutions, transforming proof-of-concept ideas into practical tools that support ACER's assessment, analytics and reporting capabilities.

What You'll Do

• Develop data science solutions using AI, machine learning and NLP
• Support the delivery of proof-of-concept projects through to operational implementation
• Work with complex datasets to generate insights and improve decision making
• Develop analytical products and reporting solutions
• Collaborate with IT to implement scalable cloud-based solutions
• Apply responsible AI principles and contribute to model governance
• Support testing, validation and ongoing monitoring of data science products
• Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement across ACER

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years' experience in data science, AI or advanced analytics
• Strong Python and/or R programming skills
• Experience applying machine learning, NLP or AI techniques
• Experience working with SQL and complex datasets
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure or modern cloud-based technologies
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Master's degree, PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field
