About the role
Overview
We are seeking a Digital Transformation Consultant to work within our growing team. The successful candidate will independently lead the discovery and analysis phase for smaller, well-scoped engagements - typically single-function automations or straightforward SaaS implementations for SME clients. They are responsible for building a toolkit of go-to solutions for common SME pain points (manual invoicing, duplicate data entry, manual reporting, disconnected systems) and developing the confidence to present recommendations directly to business owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery sessions with SME clients - conducting structured interviews with owners and staff to map current processes, identify pain points, and quantify the cost of manual work (time, error rate, staff frustration).
- Produce clear process maps and efficiency analysis reports that a non-technical business owner can understand and act on.
- Identify automation and AI opportunities across key business functions - sales pipelines, customer onboarding, invoicing, scheduling, reporting, and communications.
- Evaluate and recommend specific SaaS tools, AI assistants, or integration platforms tailored to the client's size, budget, and technical maturity.
- Configure and implement straightforward automations independently - e.g. CRM-to-email triggers, automated invoicing workflows, form-to-spreadsheet pipelines, AI-assisted customer responses.
- Integrate SaaS platforms using no-code/low-code tools (Zapier, Make, Power Automate, n8n) to eliminate manual data re-entry between systems.
- Deliver basic AI implementations - AI email drafting tools, document processing automations, AI-powered chatbots for simple client-facing use cases.
- Train end users and business owners on new tools, ensuring adoption is achieved not just installation.
- Provide post-go-live support and iterate on solutions based on early feedback.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Practical hands-on experience with at least two automation platforms (e.g. Zapier, Make, Power Automate)
- Working knowledge of the common SME SaaS stack - CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce Essentials, Pipedrive), accounting (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage), project management (Monday.com, Asana, ClickUp), and communication tools
- Ability to conduct structured discovery interviews and translate findings into process documentation
- Comfortable presenting technology recommendations to non-technical audiences, including business owners
- Basic understanding of APIs and webhooks - enough to configure integrations without custom coding
- Emerging knowledge of AI tools applicable to SMEs - ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, AI document tools
Desirable:
- Level 4 BA Apprenticeship, IT-related degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certifications in automation platforms (e.g. Zapier Certified Expert, Make Partner certification, Microsoft Power Automate certification).
- BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis (beneficial).
