About the role:
Type: Full Time Salaried
Compensation: $122,000 - $183,000 15-20% Bonus
Location: Fully Remote, must be in the United States
Hours: Full Time Days

The Director, Business Intelligence & Analytics (BIA) is responsible for leading Matrix's enterprise business intelligence strategy, analytics delivery, and reporting capabilities to enable data-driven decision making across the organization. This leader transforms complex operational, financial, clinical, and customer data into actionable insights that improve business performance, support strategic initiatives, and accelerate organizational growth.
The Director will establish scalable analytics capabilities, modernize reporting platforms, and develop a high-performing Business Intelligence team while partnering closely with Product, Technology, Operations, Clinical, Finance, Commercial, and Executive Leadership.
A critical component of this role is leading the adoption of Agentic AI and next-generation analytics technologies to automate insight generation, improve decision support, streamline reporting, and create intelligent workflows that increase organizational efficiency.
This leader is equally responsible for building sound technology processes, governance, and development standards that ensure analytics products are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with enterprise architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Intelligence Strategy
- Develop and execute the enterprise Business Intelligence strategy aligned with Matrix's business objectives.
- Serve as the organization's leader for business intelligence, analytics, reporting, and performance measurement.
- Translate business priorities into scalable analytics solutions that support operational excellence and strategic growth.
- Establish enterprise KPIs, executive scorecards, and performance dashboards used across the organization.
- Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities where analytics can improve performance, reduce cost, increase efficiency, and enhance member outcomes.
Analytics & Decision Support
- Lead the development of advanced reporting, dashboards, scorecards, predictive models, and self-service analytics.
- Utilize operational metrics, financial performance, clinical outcomes, customer insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence to guide strategic decision making.
- Deliver actionable recommendations through descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
- Partner with stakeholders to prioritize analytical initiatives based on business value and organizational impact.
- Present complex findings in clear, executive-level communications.
Agentic AI & Intelligent Analytics
- Lead the enterprise adoption of Agentic AI within Business Intelligence and Analytics functions.
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting, insight generation, anomaly detection, forecasting, and business recommendations using AI-powered agents.
- Develop AI-enabled workflows that improve analyst productivity and reduce manual reporting efforts.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to embed AI-driven decision support into operational processes.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend innovative capabilities that improve organizational performance.
- Establish governance and responsible AI practices to ensure transparency, compliance, security, and ethical use of AI-generated insights.
Data Architecture & Technology Leadership
- Partner with Data Engineering and Data Warehouse teams to design scalable data models that support enterprise reporting.
- Ensure business intelligence solutions align with enterprise architecture and data platform strategies.
- Establish development standards, release processes, documentation requirements, testing methodologies, and quality assurance practices for BI solutions.
- Lead modernization efforts across BI technologies including Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, cloud analytics platforms, and emerging technologies.
- Drive continuous improvement of analytics platforms and reporting infrastructure.
Data Governance & Quality
- Establish and maintain enterprise data governance standards that promote data quality, consistency, security, and integrity.
- Develop standardized business definitions, KPI calculations, metadata, and reporting documentation.
- Partner with business and technology leaders to improve data quality across operational systems.
- Ensure reporting complies with organizational security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Business Intelligence and Analytics organization.
- Recruit and retain exceptional analytics talent while fostering a culture of curiosity, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Develop technical capabilities across SQL, visualization, statistical analysis, AI tools, automation, and business consulting.
- Establish clear career paths, performance expectations, and development plans for team members.
- Promote collaboration across analytics, engineering, product, and business teams.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Consult with executive and operational stakeholders to understand business priorities, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
- Translate business needs into scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
- Influence enterprise decision making through trusted analytics partnerships.
- Collaborate across Clinical Operations, Member Operations, Finance, Product, Technology, Sales, Marketing, and Human Resources.
Operational Excellence
- Develop analytics operating procedures that improve consistency, reliability, and delivery speed.
- Establish project prioritization, intake, resource planning, and portfolio management processes.
- Measure team performance through delivery metrics, quality standards, adoption, and customer satisfaction.
- Continuously improve analytics delivery through automation, standardization, and Agile methodologies.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Engineering, or Decision Support.
- 4+ years leading Business Intelligence or Analytics teams.
- Experience developing enterprise reporting strategies and executive dashboards.
- Experience implementing modern BI platforms including Tableau and/or Power BI.
- Strong experience with SQL Server, T-SQL, relational databases, and data warehousing.
- Experience partnering with executive leadership on strategic business initiatives.
- Experience leading analytics modernization initiatives preferred.
- Experience implementing AI-enabled analytics, intelligent automation, or Agentic AI solutions strongly preferred.
- Healthcare, payer, provider, population health, or risk adjustment experience preferred.
