About the role

SUMMARY

Analysis Express (AE)is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer, R&D to support a medical device client in Cincinnati, Ohio. The role includes electrical hardware and embedded software activities related to engineering changes, product enhancements, regulatory compliance, quality improvements, manufacturing support, process simplification, and cost optimization. This is a hybrid opportunity requiring three days per week on-site.

Job Overview

  • Lead and coordinate engineering changes involving electrical hardware, embedded software, and system integration for capital systems and handheld medical devices.
  • Translate customer, user, and business needs into clear technical requirements while evaluating design tradeoffs, risks, and business impact.
  • Lead and support field and manufacturing root cause investigations, gap analyses, production troubleshooting, corrective actions, and process or product validation.
  • Develop and evaluate embedded electrical designs, electrical systems, and subsystem interfaces to ensure safe, reliable, and effective overall system performance.
  • Create and execute verification and validation plans, test protocols, test methods, and documented engineering reports.
  • Design prototypes, perform simulations, and debug electrical systems using oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and related laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable regulatory requirements, quality systems, electrical safety standards, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Develop strong partnerships with cross-functional leaders, engineering teams, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Lead project execution, manage technical risks and priorities, and provide clear written and verbal communication throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support resolution of technical manufacturing issues and identify opportunities for product, process, quality, and cost improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in a Research and Development environment.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded electrical design and the integration of electrical hardware and software.
  • Strong electrical analysis skills, including understanding electrical systems, subsystems, interfaces, and overall system behavior.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, verification and validation testing, test protocol development, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to test and troubleshoot electrical systems using oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and similar equipment.
  • Experience in the medical device industry or another highly regulated product development and manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage technical risks, and deliver results across organizational and functional boundaries.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of programming and test automation tools such as LabVIEW, C, C++, or Python.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, electrical simulation, and iterative testing to validate concepts and reduce design risk.
  • Experience solving electrical and electro-mechanical issues in manufacturing or commercial products.
  • Experience working within Agile product development practices and product lifecycle management systems.
  • Prefer experience applying the IEC 60601 family of electrical safety standards for medical devices.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as business and project needs require.
