Boddington is a flagship Newmont gold and copper operation in Western Australia, located about 130 kilometres south-east of Perth and 16 kilometres from the rural town of Boddington. As one of Australia's largest gold producers, Boddington is recognised for its leadership in innovation and technology, including becoming the world's first gold mine to implement an Autonomous Haulage System.

Your impact


As Engineer, Network, you will play a key role in maintaining, securing and optimising the communications and network infrastructure that supports one of Australia's largest gold mining operations.


Reporting to the Team Lead, Networks, you will support the design, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of critical network and communications systems across the Boddington operation. Working across LAN, WAN, WiFi, Microwave and LTE technologies, you will help ensure these systems remain reliable, secure and high-performing, enabling safe and productive site operations.


You will collaborate with Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Operations and Project teams to ensure network services remain reliable, secure and aligned with business and operational requirements.


As part of our team you will


  • Support and maintain site communications technologies, including wireless networks, microwave links and LTE systems
  • Monitor network performance, identify issues and implement improvements to maximise reliability and availability
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for network-related incidents, minimising operational disruption
  • Participate in an on-call roster, providing after-hours support for critical network and communications incidents, unplanned outages and other operational issues to maintain service availability and site reliability
  • Assist with network upgrades, technology refreshes and infrastructure enhancement projects
  • Work collaboratively with Cyber Security, Operations and Technology teams to maintain secure and resilient network environments
  • Support network audits, reviews and testing activities to ensure compliance with company standards and best practices
  • Maintain accurate network configurations, documentation and technical records
  • Coordinate and collaborate with vendors, contractors and service providers to support maintenance and project delivery activities
  • Implement and maintain network security controls and protocols to protect business-critical infrastructure
  • Support the reliability, availability and performance of communications and network infrastructure across the operation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance network performance, stability and service delivery
  • Assist in planning and executing infrastructure projects aligned to site technology and operational requirements


Prerequisites for your success in the role


  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering or a related discipline – highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise network and communications infrastructure environments, gained through 5–10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting LAN, WAN and WiFi networks
  • Experience supporting wireless, microwave, LTE and communications infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, standards and protocols
  • Experience using network monitoring, diagnostic and performance management tools
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex network issues
  • Experience working with third-party vendors, contractors and managed service providers
  • Experience supporting large-scale communications and network infrastructure within mining, resources, industrial, remote-site or Operational Technology (OT) environments
  • Experience with Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet or similar enterprise networking technologies
  • Experience supporting infrastructure upgrades, network deployments and capital or operational technology projects
  • Strong documentation and technical reporting capability
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call roster and respond to critical network and communications incidents outside of rostered hours when required
  • Current C-Class Driver's Licence


Work Environment & Benefits


This role operates on a 7/7 roster and is based at Boddington Gold Mine, one of Australia's largest open-pit gold mining operations.


Working within the Infrastructure and Networks team, you will collaborate closely with Operations, Cyber Security, Technology and Project stakeholders to ensure critical network and communications systems remain reliable, secure and fit for purpose across the site.


The successful candidate will participate in an on-call roster, providing after-hours support for critical network and communications incidents, unplanned outages and other operational issues. This may require responding outside of rostered hours to restore services and minimise operational disruption.


This is an opportunity to work across a diverse and operationally critical technology environment, supporting the communications and network infrastructure that underpins one of Australia's largest gold mining operations and contributes directly to safe, reliable and productive site performance.


Village accommodation is available for the successful candidate, with the option to live locally and commute daily under a Drive In / Drive Out (DIDO) arrangement.
