Estimating Engineer

$45 - $55 per hour, based on experience + Bonuses

Full-Time | Seattle, WA

Exact Electric is seeking an Estimating Engineer to develop accurate project estimates, collaborate with homeowners and project teams, and contribute to the successful delivery of electrical projects while building a rewarding long-term career with a growing company.

Required Qualifications

  • Two years of experience preparing electrical estimates
  • Washington State 02 Electrical License
  • Minimum of three years working in residential electrical installation or service
  • Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Washington State regulations, and applicable local codes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent organizational abilities
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Valid Washington driver's license with a clean, insurable driving record

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience using ConEst estimating software
  • Familiarity with Jobber, eSUB, or comparable project management systems
  • Understanding of local permitting procedures and utility company requirements

What You'll Do

  • Meet with clients to assess project requirements and gather field information
  • Develop accurate labor, material, and equipment cost estimates for residential electrical work
  • Analyze plans, specifications, and construction documents to determine project scope
  • Prepare detailed proposals and explain pricing, timelines, and recommended solutions to customers
  • Work closely with project managers and field personnel to ensure smooth project handoffs after contract award
  • Support project teams by pricing change orders and revising estimates as project scopes evolve
  • Maintain organized estimating records, customer interactions, and project documentation using construction management software
  • Stay current with changes to electrical codes, permitting requirements, and industry best practices
