Infrastructure Engineer

Position: Infrastructure Automation Engineer

Location: Remote, preferably in Pittsburgh or New Jersey

Salary: $130,000 to $140,000 per annum + bonus

EXL is looking for an exceptional Infrastructure Automation engineer skilled in a diverse range of enterprise cloud and datacenter technologies. Strong expertise in coding, scripting and software-driven automation. This role blends traditional infrastructure management with modern engineering practices, including Python development and AI-enabled automation to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency. Heavy focus on security and compliance is a key responsibility of this role. This role will involve translating business requirements into technical solutions, meeting security, compliance, SLA, disaster recovery, and operational components. Must have experience leading large technical teams. This role is an escalation point for 24 x 7 systems and staff are on call to support production systems. This position also requires oversight and completing work during maintenance windows (nights and weekends).

Automation

• Build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using: Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, CloudFormation
• Automate provisioning of: Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Storage, Firewalls, Load Balancers, DNS, DHCP, Certificates
• Develop reusable automation modules and templates
• Skilled and experience in Python, PowerShell, Bash
• Experience in Ansible
• Experience Developing and deploying pipelines using Azure DevOps GitHub Actions Jenkins
• Experience Developing AI led automation and tools – Code agents, API, MCP,

Security & Compliance

• Understand Zero Trust architecture.
• Manage identity and access using Azure AD/Entra ID and Active Directory.
• Enforce security baselines and hardening.
• Understand and experience with security patching and vulnerability management
• Experience industry compliance and security requirements, SOC1/2, SOX, HIPAA, HiTrust, PCI DSS, ISO27001

Hybrid Infrastructure Management

• Design, deploy, and manage hybrid infrastructure across: Azure, AWS, VMware vSphere, Windows Server
• Ensure high availability and scalability.
• Perform capacity planning and lifecycle management.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.

Qualification and Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in AWS and Azure cloud
• 5+ years Managing VMWare & Datacenter Hardware Environments
• Strong experience in Python, Terraform, Ansible and Powershell scripting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Demonstrate strong commitment to process and controls
• Experience managing financial budgets
• BS in Computer Science, or equivalent
