Details: Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to deliver graphic design and creative services, and contribute to the promotion of public education in the ACT? The Education Directorate is seeking to fill a short-term role in our dynamic Communications and Engagement Team.

You will work as part of our Creative team to deliver innovative and engaging communications and collaborate within and across teams in the ACT Education Directorate, including ACT public schools. This is a great opportunity to build and hone your design skills while working with a team of experienced digital content creators.

The Education Directorate delivers quality public school and early childhood education to shape every child’s future and lay the foundation for lifelong development and learning. We deliver high quality education across 93 public schools educating over 50,000 students from early childhood through to college. Our workforce consists of over 8000 staff, including 7200 school-based staff.

We also regulate the early childhood sector and register non-government schools in the ACT.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Advanced skills in developing and delivering innovative design solutions and user-centric content for contemporary digital channels.
  • Skills in graphic and/or multimedia design, and significant skills in the use of industry standard software (including experience in designing web pages and digital artefacts) such as Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Animate, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders and audiences.
  • Sound organisational skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and determine priorities.
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances and successfully managing multiple priorities and demands, in a dynamic, complex and diverse environment.
  • Resilience and the ability to work productively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, through collaboration, engagement, responsiveness and influence.

Compliance Requirements / Qualifications

  • Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design or Multimedia Design are highly desirable.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for three months. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.

A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
