For our location in Leiden, we are looking for a Lab Support Technician to support laboratory logistics and daily operations.

In this role, you ensure that laboratory materials, samples, supplies and prepared equipment are available when needed for early development studies involving new large molecule pharmaceuticals. You manage stock and sample flows, prepare and distribute materials and support the controlled movement of goods and samples between different laboratory and storage areas.

You work according to applicable GxP guidelines and help prevent delays by making sure materials and samples are correctly received, labelled, processed, stored and replenished.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing the inventory of raw materials, buffers, media and laboratory disposables, including receiving, checking, storing, replenishing and maintaining accurate stock records;
  • Identifying shortages, damaged materials and other supply issues, and communicating these before they affect laboratory activities;
  • Collecting samples from different laboratory and production locations and ensuring they are correctly registered, labelled and transported;
  • Processing samples through activities such as aliquoting, preparing samples for testing and performing required sample checks;
  • Ensuring samples are stored under the correct conditions and maintaining accurate sample records throughout the sample lifecycle;
  • Performing water sampling and supporting other routine sample management activities;
  • Preparing, assembling, autoclaving, labelling and distributing materials required for laboratory studies, including tubing sets, glass bottles and other study materials;
  • Coordinating pipette rotations and supporting the calibration of laboratory equipment, including spectrometers, pH meters, osmometers and SoloVPE equipment;
  • Cleaning and maintaining glassware, reusable materials, equipment and laboratory areas according to procedures;
  • Collecting, separating, storing and disposing of chemical and biological waste according to applicable safety and environmental procedures;
  • Participating in 5S laboratory checks and suggesting practical improvements to storage, stock management, sample handling and material preparation processes.
  • An MLO degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or a related field;
  • Experience with laboratory logistics, sample management, inventory management or material handling is preferred;
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated laboratory environment and knowledge of GxP are an advantage;
  • You work accurately and follow written procedures;
  • You can plan and prioritize recurring tasks such as stock replenishment, sample collection, cleaning, calibration and material preparation;
  • You take action when materials are running low or when an operational issue could delay laboratory work;
  • You can work independently and coordinate your activities with laboratory colleagues;
  • You are comfortable with practical, repetitive and physically active work;
  • You are flexible and available to work in shifts on certain days when required;
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English.
