About the role
Lead Accountant
Wellfit is the dental industry’s fintech solution — a healthcare fintech company enhancing the experience between patients, providers, employers, and payors. Wellfit expands access to treatment and care by removing financial barriers through modern, accessible financial solutions.
As a profitable and rapidly scaling fintech platform, we empower patients, providers, employers, and payors through solutions that make care more affordable, flexible, and easier to manage.
As we continue to scale, we’re seeking a strategic and detail-driven Lead Accountant to own critical elements of our financial operations. This high-impact role will partner directly with accounting, finance, and business leadership to drive financial clarity, operational efficiency, compliance, and scalable processes — paving the way for Wellfit’s continued growth and market expansion.
What You’ll Own
• Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes with speed, accuracy, and audit readiness.
• Own key accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, AR/AP workflows, invoice management, and cash-related accounting.
• Manage 1099 processing and filing, ensuring accurate vendor records, timely preparation, and compliance with reporting requirements.
• Support revenue accounting activities, including revenue share arrangements, customer contracts, and revenue recognition considerations under ASC 606.
• Analyze complex accounting transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment in alignment with GAAP, internal policies, and business needs.
• Deliver financial reporting, account analysis, and variance analysis that support leadership decision-making.
• Support cash flow forecasting and optimization across multiple business units.
• Partner with FP&A, operations, and business stakeholders to build and maintain scalable accounting infrastructure.
• Support software capitalization processes, including internal-use software accounting and CapEx treatment related to developer hours, where applicable.
• Continuously refine accounting procedures to support automation, scalability, documentation, internal controls, and best-in-class compliance.
• Interface directly with external auditors and help drive successful audit outcomes.
• Support tax, audit, and compliance-related documentation as needed.
What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of public accounting experience or 5+ years in a high-growth corporate accounting environment; a hybrid of both is ideal.
• Hands-on experience across the full accounting lifecycle, including close, reconciliations, journal entries, AR/AP, cash management, purchasing, and expense control.
• Experience with revenue recognition, ASC 606, revenue share arrangements, or complex customer/vendor contract accounting strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to analyze complex accounting transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
• Experience with 1099 processing and filing strongly preferred.
• Experience with software capitalization, internal-use software accounting, fixed assets, or CapEx treatment related to developer hours preferred.
• Expertise with NetSuite or similar ERP platforms.
• Deep fluency in GAAP, internal controls, financial compliance, and audit support.
• Exceptional analytical skills and a proactive approach to process improvement.
• Strong attention to detail, ownership mentality, and ability to manage recurring deadlines independently.
• A collaborative spirit with strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
Nice to Have

• Prior experience supporting audits, tax documentation, or compliance-related accounting workflows.
• Exposure to automation, accounting process improvement, or ERP optimization.
• CPA or CPA-track background.
