About the role
ABOUT US
Hybrid Asset Solutions is a multi-disciplinary engineering and facilities services provider, trusted by our clients to keep their sites running safely, compliantly and efficiently. Our engineering team covers everything from plant rooms and air conditioning to commercial and domestic gas and plumbing — and we take pride in doing it to a high standard, not just a passable one.
We're a close-knit, fast-moving business where people matter. We invest in training, we run regular team events, and we back our engineers to grow, whether that's picking up new qualifications, stepping into leadership, or simply becoming the go-to person on site.
THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Lead Engineer to join our team following an internal move, providing lead-level technical cover across plant rooms, air conditioning, and commercial & domestic gas and plumbing systems. This is a hands-on, field-based role at the heart of our engineering operation — you'll be the person the team turns to when something needs solving properly, first time.
Reporting to the Engineer Manager, you'll combine your own technical delivery with acting as the first point of escalation for the wider mechanical engineering team, helping to raise standards, share knowledge, and keep our sites running without disruption.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
● Providing lead-level technical cover across plant rooms, air conditioning, and commercial & domestic gas and plumbing systems.
● Participating fully in the callout rota, including a willingness to work away from home when required.
● Acting as the first point of technical escalation for the mechanical engineering team, resolving day-to-day issues and providing on-the-spot advice.
● Planning and delivering regular toolbox talks to raise technical standards and safety awareness across the team.
● Working proactively out in the field, and liaising closely with the Engineer Manager on workload, priorities and team development.
● Leading by example. Setting the standard for quality and reliability through your own work, and building the confidence and capability of those around you.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Essential:
● Minimum 5 years' experience across plant rooms, air conditioning, and commercial & domestic gas and plumbing.
● CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1 & HTR1
● F-Gas
● A recognised trade qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in gas, plumbing, or mechanical engineering.
● A full UK driving licence.
● Ideally have COCN1, CODNCO1, ICPN1, TPCP1 / TPCP1A, CDGA1, CORT1.
You'll also need:
● A strong work ethic and pride in the quality of your own work.
● The confidence to act as a technical escalation point and mentor to others.
● Flexibility to participate in callout rotation and, occasionally, to work away from home.
WHY JOIN HYBRID ASSET SOLUTIONS
● Competitive salary of £45,000 – £50,000, depending on experience.
● A genuinely varied, multi-disciplinary role — no two days the same.
● Real technical ownership and visibility, working closely with the Engineer Manager.
● A supportive, close-knit team culture, with regular company-wide events and recognition for great work.
● Investment in your ongoing training and development.
● The opportunity to genuinely shape standards across the mechanical engineering team, not just follow them.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You'll know you're thriving in this role when the mechanical engineering team is consistently delivering excellent, reliable work for our clients and you're a visible part of why. Success looks like being fully embedded in the callout rota, being the engineer others trust for a straight answer, and setting a standard of workmanship that raises the bar for the whole team.
ABOUT THE TEAM
You'll be joining a team that genuinely backs each other — from toolbox talks and hands-on support, to company-wide events like our quarterly meetings, where we bring everyone together to celebrate progress and shape what's next. This is a business that listens: our people regularly bring ideas forward, and we act on them.
