About the role
Join the engineering team that delivers core algorithms powering Vision Pro’s hand and gaze input and AI-powered experiences. Human Interface Devices (HID) is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer with experience developing realtime, resource constrained models for computer vision applications. We’re a mix of signal processing, machine learning, and interaction algorithm engineers united by a passion for building intuitive user interfaces and intelligence features for the next generation of computing devices.
Across Apple’s products, HID bridges the gap between sensing technologies and user interfaces. The problems you solve will be multidisciplinary and require strong collaboration and communication with partners in sensor modules, algorithms, data, software, and design. You’ll build features through the entire development cycle, from prototyping and feature definition, data collection design, model development and evaluation, and feature convergence.
Description
In this role, you will:
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing input or interaction technologies
Experience building distributed data processing pipelines
Comfortable with signal processing fundamentals
Comfortable implementing realtime algorithms in C++
Experience developing software with agentic workflows
MS/PhD in Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE) or a related field / equivalent experience
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of experience building ML models, including data preparation, architecture selection, training and evaluation (ex. PyTorch or TensorFlow)
Proficiency in Python for data analysis and model development
Experience developing realtime, resource constrained models using efficient architectures (ex. CNNs) and compression techniques (ex. distillation and quantization)
Experience using genAI tools for SW development (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc.)
Able to communicate clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Excellent problem solving and root cause analysis skills
BS in Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE) or a related field / equivalent experience
