About the role

Job Summary

The Manager of Identity & Access Management (IAM) Operations is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution, support, and continuous improvement of Tenet Health’s enterprise IAM services. This role ensures that the right individuals have the right access to the right systems at the right time—while maintaining strong security, compliance, and operational efficiency across a highly regulated healthcare environment. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on running IAM services at scale, managing a team of engineers and analysts, and operating critical identity platforms that support both clinical and business applications. You will partner closely with cybersecurity leadership, application teams, HR, audit, and compliance to ensure identity services are reliable, secure, and aligned with regulatory requirements such as SOX and healthcare-specific controls.

Responsibilities

IAM Operations Leadership

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of IAM services, including:
    • User provisioning and deprovisioning
    • Access request fulfillment and approvals
    • Access reviews and certifications
    • Identity-related incident and issue resolution
  • Oversee and mentor a team of IAM engineers, analysts, and potentially offshore/vendor resources
  • Establish and monitor SLAs, KPIs, and operational metrics to ensure service quality and performance

Platform Ownership & Support

  • Manage and support IAM platforms that deliver core identity capabilities, including:
    • Single Sign-On (SSO) – centralized authentication across enterprise applications
    • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) – strong authentication and risk-based access controls
    • Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) – access requests, approvals, certifications, and policy enforcement
    • Privileged Access Management (PAM) – secure management of elevated/admin access
  • Support and operate enterprise IAM tools such as:
    • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta, or similar identity providers
    • SailPoint, Saviynt, or other IGA platforms
    • CyberArk, BeyondTrust, or other PAM solutions
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and stability of IAM systems

Access Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure IAM controls meet regulatory and audit requirements, including:
    • Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
    • HIPAA and healthcare-specific data protection standards
  • Partner with internal audit, compliance, and risk teams to:
    • Support audits and evidence collection
    • Remediate findings in a timely manner
    • Continuously improve control effectiveness
  • Drive consistent execution of access certification campaigns and policy enforcement

Process Optimization & Automation

  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual IAM processes, improving efficiency and reducing risk
  • Enhance identity lifecycle workflows (JML) across HR systems and downstream applications
  • Improve role-based access control (RBAC) and support movement toward more scalable access models
  • Contribute to operational readiness for larger IAM transformation initiatives

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with:
    • HR (for identity lifecycle events)
    • Application owners (for access models and integrations)
    • Cybersecurity teams (for risk management and policy enforcement)
  • Act as a key point of contact for IAM operations across the business
  • Translate business needs into practical, scalable IAM solutions

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

On a typical day, you will be deeply engaged in the execution and oversight of IAM services. You may start by reviewing operational dashboards, resolving escalated access issues, and ensuring provisioning processes are running smoothly. Throughout the day, you’ll coordinate with your team to manage access requests, address system incidents, and maintain uptime across identity platforms.

You will also spend time working with stakeholders across the business to troubleshoot access challenges, support audit requests, and improve IAM processes. This role requires balancing hands-on operational execution with people leadership, ensuring your team delivers consistent, secure, and efficient identity services.
