Shape the Future of Nuclear Delivery at Sizewell C

Sizewell C is one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects, playing a critical role in delivering low-carbon energy for generations to come.

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Piping Programme Manager to join the Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC Alliance (MEHA), helping to lead the development and delivery of the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Piping Programme.

This is a rare opportunity to influence the strategy, planning and execution of one of the most technically challenging and complex elements of a major nuclear new build project. Working alongside industry-leading partners across the UK and Europe, you will play a key role in defining how the programme is delivered, driving innovation, modern methods of construction and the adoption of lessons learned from Hinkley Point C and other EPR projects.

The Opportunity

As Deputy Piping Programme Manager, you will support the development of the NSSS Piping Programme throughout the critical Phase 1 period, from Financial Close through to the commencement of on-site construction.

You will help shape the long-term delivery strategy, establish project execution plans, influence procurement and fabrication approaches, and ensure alignment across multiple organisations, disciplines and programme interfaces.

The role operates within a highly complex environment, requiring close collaboration across the MEH Alliance, Civil Works Alliance, client teams and international engineering partners. Success will require strong programme leadership, exceptional stakeholder management skills and the ability to drive delivery in a matrix organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Support the development and execution of the SZC MEH Piping Programme during Phase 1, including design, procurement and spool fabrication activities.
Contribute to the creation and implementation of programme delivery strategies, execution plans, schedules and cost estimates.
Drive the adoption of modern methods of construction, modularisation and offsite manufacturing opportunities.
Ensure programme activities remain aligned with strategic objectives and readiness for Phase 2 construction activities.
Lead and coordinate complex projects and workstreams with multiple competing priorities.
Manage interfaces across MEHA, Sizewell C, Civil Works Alliance and international delivery partners.
Identify, assess and mitigate programme risks, implementing effective responses where required.
Influence and lead multidisciplinary teams within a matrix environment to achieve programme outcomes.
Promote the highest standards of health, safety, environmental performance and quality throughout delivery.

About You

You will be an experienced project or programme leader with a strong engineering background and a proven record of delivering complex infrastructure or nuclear projects.

You will bring:
Essential

Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Significant experience delivering major infrastructure, energy or nuclear projects.
Strong understanding of NSSS piping programmes and associated delivery risks.
Experience managing complex projects and leading project teams in highly regulated environments.
Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive delivery across multiple organisations.
Experience developing strategies and delivery plans that improve safety, programme performance and cost efficiency.
Ability to lead technical teams with autonomy, initiative and accountability.
Commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence.

Desirable

Nuclear new build experience, particularly within EPR projects or Hinkley Point C.
Experience applying Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), modularisation or offsite manufacturing techniques.
Experience leading multicultural and geographically dispersed teams.
Experience working with international engineering, manufacturing or construction partners, particularly across France and Germany.
