About the role
ABOUT THE ROLE
A disaster relief services company is seeking an experienced Proposal Writer to join our team and play a critical role in winning new business. In this position, you will be responsible for developing compelling, compliant, and competitive proposals in response to government and/or private sector solicitations. You will work closely with business development, operations, and subject matter experts to craft narratives that clearly communicate our capabilities, experience, and value to clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the end-to-end development of proposals, including RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, sources sought responses, and capability statements.
- Review and analyze solicitation documents to identify requirements, evaluation criteria, and compliance obligations.
- Write, edit, and proofread proposal content including executive summaries, technical narratives, management plans, past performance write-ups, and resumes.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts, project managers, regional managers, and executives to gather information and ensure technical accuracy.
- Maintain and update a library of reusable proposal content, boilerplate language, personnel resumes, and past performance references.
- Ensure all proposals are submitted on time, formatted correctly, and fully compliant with solicitation requirements.
- Support after-action reviews and incorporate lessons learned into future proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of proposal writing experience, preferably in a government contracting, emergency management, construction, or professional services environment.
- Demonstrated experience writing winning proposals in response to federal, state, or local government solicitations.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, persuasive narrative.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Adobe InDesign or other desktop publishing tools a plus.
- APMP certification a plus.

Pay: $58,014.21 - $69,866.57 per year
