General Function
Central Piedmont Community College emphasizes excellence in classroom instruction. Faculty are responsible for developing IT-focused lesson plans, creating assessments, providing feedback, and incorporating industry tools for hands-on learning while maintaining an engaging and well-managed environment both in-person and online. They also contribute to curriculum development, stay current with IT trends through professional development, mentor students, adhere to college policies, collaborate with colleagues, and ensure commitment to their teaching schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Course Preparation and Delivery: Develop lesson plans that align with the curriculum, focusing on both theoretical and practical IT skills, ensuring students are well-prepared for the workforce.
2. Student Assessment and Support: Develop assessments and projects to gauge IT concept understanding and offer constructive feedback. Provide mentorship and guidance through email and other channels to help students achieve their career goals.
3. Classroom Management: Establish a supportive learning environment, encouraging participation and managing any classroom or online disruptions effectively.
4. Curriculum Development: Assist in the creation or revision of course content to reflect current IT trends and employer needs, ensuring course relevance.
5. Professional Development: Continuously update knowledge to keep course material current with the evolving IT industry, utilizing college resources for effective teaching and completing all required training on time
6. Compliance and Documentation: Adheres to the specific policies and requirements of the College and other pertinent agencies. Keep accurate and detailed records of student performance, including grades, and attendance, and report them as required by the College.
7. Collaboration: Engage with fellow faculty and department staff in meetings and initiatives, sharing best practices and contributing to departmental improvements.
8. Commitment to Teaching Schedule: Honor the teaching schedule and communicate any conflicts or changes in advance to minimize course disruptions.
Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Artificial Intelligence concepts, including generative AI, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, AI agents, workflow automation, and responsible AI practices.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools and platforms to improve business processes, increase productivity, automate tasks, and support decision making.
- Proficiency with commonly used AI technologies and platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Power Platform, AI agent platforms, automation tools, and related business AI applications.
- Ability to design and deliver hands on learning experiences that teach students how to apply AI in workplace and business settings.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse adult learners in classroom, online, and hybrid formats.
- Curriculum development experience with the ability to create course materials, projects, assessments, and learning activities aligned with workforce needs.
- Subject matter expertise demonstrated through a minimum of three years of professional experience implementing, managing, consulting, or training others in Artificial Intelligence technologies and business applications.
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field.
- Experience teaching adult learners in workforce development, continuing education, corporate training, or higher education settings.
- Experience designing AI workflows, AI agents, business automation solutions, or AI powered business applications.
- Industry certifications or demonstrated expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Cloud Technologies, or Microsoft AI solutions.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900), Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102), Microsoft Applied Skills credentials, Google AI certifications, OpenAI training credentials, or similar industry recognized certifications.
- Experience implementing AI governance, responsible AI, security, privacy, and compliance practices.
- Experience using AI within project management, operations, business analysis, customer service, marketing, or knowledge management environments.

- Knowledge of current AI technologies, trends, and emerging workforce applications.
- Ability to teach both foundational and advanced AI concepts to nontechnical and technical audiences.
- Ability to demonstrate practical AI use cases that improve workplace efficiency, communication, analysis, creativity, and decision making.
- Skilled in designing AI workflows, prompt frameworks, automation processes, and AI assisted business solutions.
- Knowledge of ethical AI practices including data privacy, bias awareness, security considerations, transparency, and responsible use of AI systems.
- Ability to evaluate and incorporate new AI tools and technologies as the field rapidly evolves.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and innovation skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and perform with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to student success and creating an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Demonstrates adaptability and continuous learning in response to emerging technologies and changing workforce needs.
Working Conditions:
Typical classroom or training environment; sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, grasping, and repetitive keyboarding motions; vocal communications is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; no adverse environmental conditions; infrequently traveling between buildings on campus, to other campuses, or locally.
