QA Automation Engineer – Roles & Responsibilities (Financial Client)
Position: QA Automation Engineer
Domain: Banking / Financial Services / Insurance / Capital Markets
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for web, mobile, API, and backend applications.
- Create and execute automated test scripts using Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright, or similar automation tools.
- Develop API automation using REST Assured, Postman, or Karate Framework.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and QA teams to understand business and technical requirements.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
- Execute cross-browser and cross-platform testing to ensure application compatibility.
- Validate financial transactions, payment processing, trading systems, claims processing, loan servicing, and customer portals.
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with developers to resolve issues.
- Perform database validation using SQL and verify backend data integrity.
- Execute API, UI, and database testing to ensure end-to-end functionality.
- Support performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Maintain test documentation, test plans, test cases, automation scripts, and defect reports.
- Ensure compliance with financial industry regulations, security standards, and data privacy requirements.
- Continuously improve automation frameworks, testing processes, and test coverage.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong experience with Selenium WebDriver , Cypress , or Playwright .
- Proficiency in Java , Python , or C# for automation scripting.
- Experience with TestNG , JUnit , NUnit, or PyTest.
- Hands-on experience with REST Assured , Postman , Karate, or SOAP UI.
- Strong SQL skills for database validation and backend testing.
- Experience with version control tools such as Git .
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools including Jenkins , Azure DevOps , GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is preferred.
