Description of Job
About the Position
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following
- Provide technical and operational support to the Regional Safety Officer.
- Process invoices for the region “Prescription Eye Wear” and “Safety Toed Boot” programs, hotel reservations, scheduling and reserving conference space, processing the units travel expenses.
- Provide directional information, assist complainants or direct them to the proper person for resolution. Document and track resolution to ensure resolution consistency for future complainants and inquiries.
- Maintain, reconcile, purge and/or archive all related documentation in accordance with CDOT Records Management requirements.
- Support the Regional Safety Officer in implementing and maintaining a program designed to reduce or eliminate hazards, by reducing or eliminating the cause of exposures, accidents, and loss events.
- Compile, sort, and disseminate information derived from the measures of the accident and loss prevention program.
- Track information as it pertains to accident reduction and loss prevention.
- Serve on the Region Safety Committee and Accident Review Board to assist the Region Safety Officer.
- Provide safety information as directed; disseminates information to appropriate personnel.
- Review initiatives with the Regional Safety Officer to improve worker safety in work zones and all other locations where employee tasks are completed.
- Prepare reports to communicate valid and comprehensive recommendations for hazard controls. based upon analysis and interpretation of accident. exposure, loss event, and other relevant data.
- Develop safety related training topics for Regional staff and employees on employee occupational safety and the effective hazard control techniques; conducts portion of the training.
- Serve as a member of the Region Accident Review Board to assist the Regional Support Officer in completing assigned portions of reviewing all employee injury, vehicle, equipment, and property damage claims.
- Assist in accident investigations.
- Directly observe work activities to analyze and identify unrecognized and/or unaddressed safety hazards.
- Develop and maintain a database of results of audits, visits, inspections, etc. and tracks violations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- Your schedule will primarily be 8:00 am – 5:00 pm work hours, Monday-Friday.
- Travel may be required during work hours throughout Region 3.
- Occasional overnight travel 1-3 times a year throughout Colorado.
- Required to operate CDOT vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
- Three years of work experience where the primary responsibility involved applying rules and procedures for the entry and quality assurance of data; creating reports, reviewing and processing financial documents and advanced proficiency using computer software/systems daily (e.g. MS Access, Excel, SAP).

- A combination of related education and/or relevant experience that involved applying rules and procedures for the entry and quality assurance of data; creating reports, reviewing and processing financial documents and advanced proficiency using computer software/systems daily (e.g. MS Access, Excel, SAP).
