Tyddyn Môn is looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team for the remainder of the summer season until September 2026 at our popular café and pancake house, Tŷ Crempog. In addition to our popular pancakes, we serve a range of freshly prepared food and drinks, including paninis, light lunches, homemade cakes, hot and cold beverages and seasonal specials.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a friendly team in a busy customer facing environment while making a real difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities.

Tŷ Crempog is more than just a café. It provides meaningful work experience and supported employment opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, helping them develop confidence, independence and valuable workplace skills. As a member of the team, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming environment for both our customers and the people we support.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare pancake batter and other food items.
  • Cook pancakes and prepare toppings to customer order.
  • Prepare and serve food and drinks, including tea, coffee and other refreshments.
  • Provide day to day support and encouragement to adults with learning disabilities working in the café, helping them develop their skills and confidence.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Operate the till, handle cash and card payments and complete the end of day cashing up procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene throughout the café, kitchen and customer areas.
  • Monitor stock levels, minimise waste and check product use by dates.
  • Respond courteously and professionally to customer enquiries, comments and feedback.
  • Follow all Tyddyn Môn policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding, health and safety, food hygiene, and equality.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by your Line Manager.

Person Specification

The successful applicant will be:

  • Friendly, approachable, reliable and enthusiastic.
  • Flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts to meet the needs of the service, including Saturdays and occasional Bank Holidays.
  • Able to follow recipes and prepare food consistently to the required standards.
  • Passionate about providing excellent customer service.
  • Patient, caring and respectful when supporting people with learning disabilities.
  • Able to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.
  • Well organised and able to work calmly during busy periods.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Well presented with a positive, can do attitude.
  • Committed to equality, inclusion and promoting the independence of the people we support.

Desirable Experience and Skills

It would be advantageous if you have:

  • Previous experience working in a café, restaurant, catering or hospitality environment.
  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities or other vulnerable adults.
  • A full UK manual driving licence.
  • Welsh language skills, or a willingness to learn Welsh.

Training

No formal qualifications are essential. Full induction and training will be provided, including food hygiene, safeguarding and other mandatory training required for the role.

Pay

  • Hourly rate in line with the National Living Wage.
