About the Role
As the Senior Business Analyst, you will work closely with the Product Managers and Product Leads, as well as members of our Engineering and QA teams, to gather requirements, define and design customer centered solutions.
You will be working in the Datascape team, which provides Enterprise software to Councils throughout Australia and New Zealand. In this role, you will work on in-depth analysis across the different teams, as we prepare to deliver new and exciting Features to our customer base. We’re in an exciting phase, experiencing rapid growth
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst with a successful track record working in a variety of enterprise projects, in complex environments.
- Ideally you will have worked in a Technical Analyst position, in FinTech or with a Tier 1 or 2 ERP vendor, or across multiple business areas in Local Government.
- Outstanding writing and documentation skills – accuracy, brevity and clarity, applied to business, product and technical domains.
- Strong understanding of modern software development technologies, practices and methodologies in an Agile environment.
- Strong information architecture expertise or an understanding of how knowledge links together as a cohesive system.
- Ability to understand and model complex concepts and solve complex problems with consideration to business impact.
- Ability to break down, analyse and define solutions for large, poorly specified problems.
- Good understanding of data structures and models. You should be able to describe how data is linked together in SQL and how those links might be expressed in JSON or XML.
- Excellent collaboration and facilitation skills with ability to drive decisions working with diverse stakeholder communities, including at executive level.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Commercial acumen with a focus on maximising business and customer value.
- Experience using Artificial Intelligence in previous roles.

What you’ll do
- Designing, developing and delivering high-quality business, product and technology analysis artefacts.
- Actively participating in customer/partner research, ideation and research and development activities.
- Supporting the product and engineering design processes.
- Helping the PM to prioritise the roadmap and backlog based on earliest delivered value, risk analysis, impact analysis, impact mapping and dependencies.
- Working with the Tech Lead and UX Lead to help create the overall solution design, as well as break it down into smaller portions of roadmap and sprint compatible deliveries.
- Ensuring the delivery team understands the problem/opportunity domain, needs are elicited and broken down into meaningful and valuable backlog items and communicate them to the team.
- Working with the product engineering team to define clear time estimates (developers, testers, tech lead and scrum master).
- Assisting the PM in identifying and managing interdependencies with other portfolios or squads.
- Facilitating workshops, as well as discovery and analysis sessions.
- Actively contributing to the development and adoption of effective product and business analysis practices, including high-quality analysis and documentation standards.
