About the role:
Reporting to a Data Platform Product Owner in the Data Architecture, Platform & Engineer division of the Data & Insights (D&I) team, the role holder will be responsible for designing, implementing scalable data pipelines and systems allowing large datasets to be managed, processed and analysed effectively. They will ensure that data flows are optimised, data quality measurement is enabled, and appropriate technologies utilised.
Throughout development, they will ensure best practice standards are followed, and all work aligns to the appropriate guidelines. They will ensure testing is carried out appropriately and assist the Data Platform team with enabling the implementation of principles and maintenance/improvements.
What you'll be doing:
The role holder will mainly be supporting on the Data platform however other systems may also require support. Developing with the decommissioning roadmap in mind is crucial along with ensuring we are working to the over-arching data strategy.
You will work hands-on with the modern data stack to design, build, and optimise scalable data solutions. Using your expertise in Python for data engineering and analysis, you will develop robust data pipelines, applying a range of techniques and patterns to ensure efficient and reliable data delivery.
You will model and visualise data using a variety of tools to generate actionable insights, while leveraging systems of record such as Salesforce to integrate and maintain high-quality datasets.
In addition, you will design, manage, and optimise databases across platforms such as Snowflake, SQL Server, and MySQL, supporting both OLTP and OLAP workloads. Through this, you will ensure data is structured, accessible, and performant, enabling effective analytics and informed decision-making across the business.
About you:
You will be an experienced data delivery engineer with a passion for data will a strong understanding of end-to-end data lifecycle management, including the complexities of using data effectively to enable meaningful analytics. You will grasp how data moves from ingestion through transformation, storage, and consumption, and recognise the challenges involved at each stage.
You will have experience of how modern Data Teams operate, particularly how they design, build, and deliver Data Products using software engineering principles—ensuring scalability, reliability, and value delivery to end users.
Essential Criteria:
Proven experience in data engineering and integration roles.
Expert in SQL and data querying, alongside version control systems e.g. Git.
Experience with cloud platforms e.g. AWS, Azure.
Strong knowledge of data warehousing solutions e.g. Snowflake, Redshift.
Experience building ETL processes and knowledge of data modelling and warehousing patterns.
Experience with data integration tools: Talend, MuleSoft, Matillion, SSIS
Desirable Criteria:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
