Join an enterprise organization investing heavily in Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI, Power BI, and modern data governance. This is a highly visible role for a hands-on engineer who wants to build scalable data platforms, develop practical AI solutions, and deliver analytics used by business leaders and external partners.
The position is approximately 60% data and AI engineering and 40% Power BI development. You will work across data modernization, AI-enabled automation, Microsoft Purview, secure analytics portals, and regulatory data solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Data & AI Engineering
- Design, develop, and maintain data warehouse, lakehouse, and data integration solutions using Microsoft Fabric.
- Build and optimize data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, semantic models, and enterprise data architectures.
- Develop scalable solutions that support data quality, reliability, security, governance, and performance.
- Design and implement AI-enabled business solutions using Azure AI Foundry, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and related technologies.
- Develop AI-assisted automation solutions that improve business processes, reporting, data management, and operational efficiency.
- Lead the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Microsoft Purview Data Catalog.
- Automate metadata generation, data classification, lineage documentation, and business glossary creation.
- Design and support automated data transformation and reporting solutions for external reporting entities.
- Develop secure Azure-based applications for data collection, validation, workflow management, and platform integration.
- Support Microsoft Fabric administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, optimization, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
Business Intelligence & Analytics
- Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, scorecards, reports, and self-service analytics solutions using Power BI.
- Create advanced DAX measures, KPIs, calculations, semantic models, and data visualizations.
- Develop reporting solutions for executive, operational, regulatory, and external stakeholders.
- Optimize dashboard performance, usability, scalability, refresh processes, and user adoption.
- Lead the design and implementation of a secure external-facing Power BI analytics portal hosted within Azure.
- Configure and maintain Row-Level Security, Role-Based Access Control, authentication, authorization, tenant segmentation, and data governance controls.
- Support reporting requests, dashboard enhancements, KPI development, and ad hoc analysis.
- Promote reporting standards, visualization best practices, and data literacy across the organization.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Business Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, software development, or related disciplines.
- 5+ years of experience developing enterprise Power BI solutions.
- 5+ years of experience with SQL development and enterprise data modeling.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or comparable Azure data platforms.
- Advanced experience with Power BI, DAX, Power Query, semantic models, and dashboard optimization.
- Experience with SQL, Python, REST APIs, data warehouse engineering, and lakehouse architecture.
- Experience developing secure, enterprise-scale data solutions.
- Experience with Azure authentication, authorization, Row-Level Security, and Role-Based Access Control.
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Azure AI Foundry, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or related AI technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, data governance, metadata management, and data lineage.
- Experience developing secure cloud-based applications within Azure.
- Experience with XML data transformation and regulatory reporting processes.
- Experience building external-facing analytics portals or secure data-sharing platforms.
- Experience within insurance, financial services, healthcare, government, or another regulated industry.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or Azure certifications.
