About the role

This position is responsible for the design, development, and support of Tulane Advancement systems and software, including Affinaquest’s AdvancementRM application and associated CRM products. Responsible for delivering custom features, reports and complex data extraction queries, client dashboards, and other CRM build needs that require programming skills. Collaborates with business analysts and project managers to gather and analyze requirements for reporting and data collection. Creates and maintains technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user guides. Supports data imports as needed. Keeps up to date with the latest Salesforce technologies and related products in support of new CRM.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science
2. Proficiency in coding languages, preferably SQL and XTML
3. 5 years of application development or relevant technology experience
4. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

1. Expert knowledge of Object-Oriented programming
2. Experience with database design concepts and use of SOQL, SOSL, and SQL
3. Experience with JavaScript, HTML, XML, WSDL and CSS
4. Experience with Salesforce API and Web Services (REST/SOAP/Bulk)
5. Experience with environment management, release management, code versioning, deployment methodologies, and CI/CD tools
6. Experience leading activities on structured team development projects
7. Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical clients
8. Ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming methods and practice Agile software development methodologies
9. Ability to recognize and recommend needed changes in user and operations procedures including participation in code reviews
10. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in a higher education technology environment, especially with Affinaquest or Salesforce
2. Proficiency with tools such as Informatica and Apsona for Salesforce
3. Salesforce developer certifications are highly desirable


Product Development
  • Develops and/or builds out custom applications, reports, features and integrations for Quest and related programming and reporting tools.
  • Collaborates with business analysts and project managers to scope, solution, and develop builds.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and designs effective solutions to meet the organization’s needs.
  • Ensures the quality and performance of solutions through rigorous testing and debugging.
  • Provides ongoing support for developed solutions, including troubleshooting, as needed.
  • Completes and validates within appropriate deadlines as determined by the Senior Director of Product Development.
Drafts and Maintains Technical Documentation
  • In collaboration with business analysts and programming colleagues, creates and maintains technical documentation, including specifications and validation rules.
  • Documents programming considerations, roadblocks, and approved solutions/builds.
  • Maintains timely and robust expertise in Advancement Salesforce and related tools to serve as SME for CRM functionalities.
Mentoring.
Works in collaborative team environment; mentors and provides guidance and instructional support for entry-level programmer(s).
