About the role

Lightning Fruit is a small digital agency with a close-knit team of developers and creatives. We believe fervently in doing good in the world, and our work reflects that. We are seeking a part-time Senior Project Manager with mid-level experience to join our awesome team. This will be a client-facing role in which the Senior PM is expected to manage relationships with all clients and will work to communicate requests between clients and our internal team. As such, they should be able to clearly translate technical information from our development team to our clients, as well as anticipate client requests and clearly communicate those requests to our internal teams. You should have a knack for knowing what a client truly wants, not just what they ask for.

Role Overview:

The Senior Project Manager is the daily liaison between our clients and our internal team of designers, developers, and CRO specialists. You will own the project lifecycle, ensuring that client requests are communicated clearly and effectively to our internal teams, and that all requests are delivered in a completed state back to the client within the agreed upon timeline. As such, your primary focus is to manage timelines, budgets, and team workload while facilitating quick and friendly communication with clients and internal team members. The role has opportunity for growth – both into a full-time position (if desired, after at least a year in the position) and with upward mobility into leadership for individuals who display a proactive attitude and perform above and beyond.

This position is part-time for 20 hours/week. This work will be spread out to 4 hours/day every weekday. Hours have some limited flexibility. Our team is fully remote. We are looking to hire someone who is US-based only.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning: Translate client requirements into actionable tasks for the development team.
  • Timeline & Budget Management: Develop project schedules, outline milestones, and ensure projects stay on track from both a time and budget perspective.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and reaching out well in advance and managing expectations if a project is behind. You will also be responsible for securing necessary approvals for budget changes, as well as design and development milestones. You will meet with each client monthly on zoom to discuss completed work and new requests.
  • Team Coordination: Direct daily workflows for designers and developers. Assign tasks, follow up on outstanding items, and coordinate weekly and as-needed team meetings. Not only do you need to be very self-directed in this role, but you need to be able to direct a team as well.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee QA team and occasionally complete QA tasks as needed, ensuring the final product successfully meets the client’s request and our technical standards. This requires an ability to anticipate client needs that they might miss initially.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in project management, specifically managing monthly retainer clients and full-lifecycle website builds within a digital agency or similar environment.
  • Technical Literacy: High-level understanding of WordPress is required. Elementor experience is a plus. Should have solid UX instincts and an ability to do basic website troubleshooting. Basic knowledge of tools such as Google Analytics, Data Studio, Google Ads, and Google Tag Manager is preferred.
  • Tool Mastery: Proficiency in Asana or a similar tool is required. Proficiency in managing a robust Google Drive system (including both internal and external sharing) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills are non-negotiable. An ability to maintain a friendly demeanor even in the face of conflict is incredibly important to this role. It is also important that you have a strong ability to explain technical concepts in accessible language to clients.

We believe in using our business to make the world a better place. Much of our work is with non-profits, progressives, and social enterprises, trying to make this planet better for all of us. We figure the least we can do is make their websites look dope.
