Independently creates API-based applications from concept to finished product with a cloud-first emphasis using strong knowledge of general programming languages, frameworks and deployment methodologies. Implements complicated or ambiguous technical problems. Uses strong communication skills to articulate problems and solutions to both product stakeholders and the development team.

Principle Duties

• Create API-based web applications from concept to production, emphasizing cloud-first architecture

• Tackle complex technical challenges, providing innovative solutions in ambiguous situations

• Work closely with product stakeholders and development team, effectively communicating technical concepts

• Design, develop, test, and deploy API-based systems using industry-leading practices

• Ensure high-quality, well-tested code and seek continuous improvements

• Implements timely decisions on complicated technical problems

• Manages individual tasks and timelines with an ability to work without direct supervision.

• Seeks continuous quality improvements for supported systems

• Support legacy systems during transition to new platforms

• Contribute to team growth through mentoring and knowledge sharing

• Adapt to evolving project needs and take on additional duties as required

• Mentor team members and make critical technical decisions

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Computer Science or equivalent experience - Required

• Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) - Preferred

Work Experience

• 4+ years software development experience - Required

• 8+ years of software development experience - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency in multiple tools of the full stack covering frontend frameworks, databases, and deployments - Required

• Experience with a variety of general programming languages - Required

• Experience with Test-Driven Development - Required

• Experience with a variety of database technologies - Required

• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies - Required

• Advanced ability to solve complex problems, drawing upon creativity, experience, and multiple sources of information - Required

• Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information in straightforward manner, with fluency in English, both written and verbal - Required

• Experience with AWS, GCP or other cloud provider - Required

• JavaScript/Java/Groovy/Go/C#/.Net/Python, Docker/Kubernetes, NodeJS, Relational/NoSQL database, Terraform/Ansible, Shell - Required

• Courage and candor to challenge status quo - Required

• Open to learn new technologies and methodologies - Required

Compensation Range:

$89,310.00 - $134,870.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
