Senior Software Engineer

Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Senior Software Engineer for our client, an AI-driven software company transforming the global commodities industry in SF, CA! This is a full-time, direct hire position offering a hybrid work schedule in San Francisco (South Park).

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing, venture-backed AI startup building the operating system for global commodities trading. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with founders and an experienced engineering team to build scalable applications, AI-powered workflows, and customer-facing features that automate complex operational processes. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems, working across the full stack, and making a significant impact in a fast-paced startup environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and cloud-based applications.
• Build and optimize AI-powered features, including LLM applications, intelligent workflows, and automation pipelines.
• Develop full-stack solutions using technologies such as React, TypeScript, Python, Go, and Node.js.
• Create scalable data pipelines and reliable software that support mission-critical enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with founders, engineers, and customers to translate business requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices to ensure maintainable, well-tested code.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve application performance, reliability, and scalability in production environments.
• Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies while contributing to a collaborative, fast-paced engineering culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience building modern web applications and scalable backend services
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and cloud-native applications
• Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or Large Language Models (LLMs) is highly desirable
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced startup environment
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud-native architectures a plus
• Enterprise software, logistics, supply chain, or fintech experience preferred

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This full-time position offers an annual base salary range of $225-250k, commensurate with experience, plus early-stage equity. The organization provides a robust benefits package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage in addition to paid time off.
