About the Role

I am looking for a rare, end-to-end UI/UX Artist who owns a screen from the first sketch to the shipped, in-engine reality. You understand players, not only how they feel moving through a game, but how they convert, spend, and return.

You think about experience from both a gameplay perspective and a sales & marketing perspective, and you can hold both in your head at once.

You are equally comfortable defining a user flow, rendering a screen that makes a 2D interface feel as rich and dimensional as high-end 3D, animating the microinteractions that bring it to life, and implementing it all yourself in Unity. You iterate fast, you work independently, you read a brief closely enough to work "Make it pop" somewhere into your application, and you raise the visual and experiential bar of everything you touch.

This is a hands-on craft role for someone who wants to do the whole thing, not hand off pieces of it.

Who This Role Is (and Isn't) For

To set expectations honestly: this is a generalist, interdisciplinary position, and the bar spans several disciplines at once.

A fit if you can take a feature from UX flow, to mockup, to 3D model and render, to polished 2D screen, to Spine or flipbook animation, to Unity implementation, largely on your own, and you enjoy that breadth.

Not a fit if your strength is only drawing icons, only producing wireframes and UX documentation, or only doing visual design without touching the engine. Specialists are excellent, but this specific role needs someone who connects all of these.

If you're a broad artist with real depth in several of these areas and the drive to close the gaps, read on.

You Will Have the Opportunity To:

  • Define and document user flows, information architecture, and app navigation structures.

  • Create wireframes, interaction diagrams, and prototypes that clearly express UX concepts.

  • Advocate for players by identifying friction points and proposing elegant, high converting solutions.

  • Design high quality mockups, screens, iconography, and components with a premium, cohesive look.

  • Make 2D look and feel as awesome as 3D, using lighting, depth, material treatment, and rendering craft to give flat interfaces dimensionality and polish.

  • Model, render, and polish 3D assets yourself, then bake or adapt them into production ready 2D UI where it serves the experience.

  • Animate UI interactions, micro transitions, and character moments using Spine, flipbook or frame based animation, and other techniques appropriate to the effect.

  • Maintain visual consistency, readability, and accessibility across all mobile experiences.

  • Implement and fine tune UI directly within Unity: canvases, prefabs, layouts, and animation systems, applying best practices for performance and resolution independence.

  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate UI seamlessly into gameplay and application logic.

  • Contribute to organized, version controlled Unity art and prefab assets.

  • Design and polish the surfaces where experience meets business: LiveOps events, offers, bundles, reward screens, and monetization flows, so they feel rewarding rather than intrusive.

  • Iterate quickly: produce multiple strong directions, get them in front of players and stakeholders, and refine toward the best solution.

  • Leverage AI tools to enhance visual fidelity and streamline the production pipeline, with strong artistic judgment guiding the final output.

What We're Looking For (Must Haves):

  • Interdisciplinary range: demonstrated ability to cover UX, visual and UI design, 3D, animation, and in-engine implementation, not a single slice of the pipeline.

  • 3+ years of UX/UI design experience for mobile games or applications.

  • 1+ years working hands-on with Unity UI systems: prefabs, canvases, layouts, and animation.

  • Strong 3D skills: modeling, rendering, and polishing renders (e.g. Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, or equivalent).

  • Proven ability to make 2D interfaces read as premium, dimensional, and comparable to 3D.

  • Experience with Spine, flipbook, or frame-based animation, and other UI animation techniques.

  • Proficiency in Figma (or equivalent) for prototyping, visual design, and collaboration.

  • A real understanding of player behavior and experience through both gameplay and sales and marketing lenses: F2P psychology, conversion, retention, and monetization surface.

  • Speed and independence: you plan and task your own work, iterate rapidly, and ship.

  • Familiarity with Git for version control, and strong asset organization and pipeline discipline.

  • Good cross-functional communication and a genuinely collaborative approach.

Nice to Have(Not mandatory, but a great bonus)

  • Experience with Unity animation systems and Timeline for UI behaviors.

  • Motion design or VFX skills (shaders, particles, glow and light treatments) to enhance UI feedback.

  • Experience with After Effects, Rive, or Lottie.

  • Knowledge of localization and accessibility best practices.

  • Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization tools for mobile UI in Unity.

  • Experience in shipping and live operating a successful mobile F2P title.

  • Working knowledge of Japanese, or experience with the Japanese and wider Asian mobile market.

  • Understanding Players and the Business

Great mobile UI isn't just functional. It needs to feel rewarding, responsive, and emotionally satisfying, and it needs to work commercially. We want someone who can look at a screen and reason about both the player's journey and the business outcome: where attention goes, where friction costs us, and how a reward or offer moment can feel generous rather than manipulative. If you think naturally in terms of how this feels and how this performs, you'll thrive here.

Location & Relocation

Location is not a barrier. Talent is what matters. You may apply from anywhere in the world.

However, this role is based in Japan, and you must be ready to relocate. Candidates already based in Japan are preferred. For the right person relocating from abroad, we provide relocation support to make the move as smooth as possible for you (and anyone joining you).

Want to stand out? Fill in the whole form, including the fields that aren't mandatory. The more complete your application, the sooner you'll hear back from us.
