Senior WordPress Developer & Web Infrastructure Lead

ASTA-USA Translation Services, Inc., an established B2B multilingual communications company founded in 1987, is seeking an experienced Senior WordPress Developer & Web Infrastructure Lead to assume primary technical responsibility for our corporate website and help build its next generation.

We are looking for more than a website designer or someone who simply knows how to use WordPress.

This individual should be an experienced, hands-on WordPress professional capable of managing virtually all aspects of an established corporate website – front end, back end, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance, forms, security, integrations, and overall website health.

The website is an important part of our business infrastructure. Reliability matters. Our contact forms and lead-generation pathways must work consistently, technical problems need to be identified quickly, and we need someone we can trust to take ownership when an issue arises.

At the same time, ASTA-USA is developing the ASTA-USA Knowledge & Expertise Initiative (AUKEI), an ambitious expansion of our website into an interconnected knowledge and authority platform built around decades of institutional and subject-matter expertise.

The person we hire will work directly with company leadership and our content team to help turn that strategy into a scalable technical and information architecture.

Responsibilities

• Assume primary technical responsibility for our WordPress website
• Manage WordPress core, themes, plugins, updates, backups, staging, and troubleshooting
• Handle front-end and back-end development and customization
• Maintain and troubleshoot contact forms, email delivery, lead routing, and integrations
• Monitor website uptime, performance, security, errors, broken functionality, and overall health
• Diagnose hosting, DNS, SSL, caching, CDN, database, and server-related issues
• Implement technical SEO, schema/structured data, redirects, indexing, and internal linking
• Help architect and implement the AUKEI knowledge infrastructure
• Build new pages, templates, sections, and functionality as needed
• Maintain clear documentation of development, maintenance, and technical changes
• Communicate directly and reliably with leadership and content personnel

What We're Looking For

We want a technically strong WordPress generalist with deep development experience, someone comfortable taking ownership of the entire website rather than only one layer of it.

Strong experience with WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, databases, hosting environments, website security, performance optimization, forms, and technical SEO is important. This is NOT a learn-on-the-job opportunity.

Experience with structured data, large content architectures, GEO/AI discovery, or building authoritative knowledge-based websites is highly desirable.

Equally important are reliability, accountability, and communication.

This is a remote contract position, but candidates must be regularly available and responsive during U.S. weekday business hours. We do not require full-time availability; we do require reasonable accessibility when technical questions, development decisions, or urgent website issues arise.
