About the role
The Hales Group is looking for a skilled Software Developer to join our team and help build, maintain, and improve our software systems to meet user needs and business requirements. The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience with .NET development and brings additional value through Android Studio experience. This role involves writing clean, efficient code, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high quality software solutions and training and supporting end users.
Key Responsibilities
● Design, develop, test, and maintain proprietary software applications using .NET technologies, Java and C#
● Be proficient in Android Studio in order to improve and troubleshoot a mobile Android application
● Recommend and implement improvements that enhance software quality, performance, maintainability, and user experience.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
● Create and maintain technical documentation for software applications and system changes.
● Diagnose and resolve technical issues across software and general IT systems
● Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code
● Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices
● Collaborate with engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to define requirements, develop solutions, test functionality, and implement software enhancements.
● Train and support application main users
Required Qualifications
· .NET Development Experience (Required): Proven experience building applications using .NET Framework and modern .NET (.NET Core/.NET 6+), including C# and WinForms
● Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles
● Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, or similar) and writing efficient queries
● Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
● Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing codebases
● Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
● Good communication and teamwork skills
● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
· Android Studio / Android app development experience (Priority Plus) — experience building, testing, and deploying native Android applications (Java or Kotlin)
● Familiarity with cross-platform frameworks (Xamarin, MAUI, or similar) a plus
● General IT support experience (networking, systems administration, hardware/software troubleshooting)
● Knowledge of SCADA (AVEVA Edge) and/or PLC programming a plus
