About the role
Location: Cary, NC (Onsite)
Shift: 1st Shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexible)
Travel: Up to 10% (Local travel using personal vehicle, approximately 2–15 miles for occasional factory visits)
Safety Requirement: Metatarsal safety boots required (reimbursable)
Work Authorization: Candidates on valid work visas are welcome to apply, provided they have at least one year of remaining work authorization.
Experience Level: Mid-career professionals preferred. Recent graduates will not be considered.
Interview Process
- Round 1: 30-minute Microsoft Teams screening
- Round 2: 1-hour Microsoft Teams interview (onsite interview preferred when feasible)

Job Summary
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join a collaborative software development team focused on designing, developing, validating, and optimizing embedded software solutions for advanced vehicle systems. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, testers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality embedded software while supporting feature development, integration, testing, and system validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform software requirements analysis and operational concept development.
- Design embedded software architecture and system components.
- Develop embedded applications using C/C++ and MATLAB Simulink.
- Implement new software features and resolve software defects.
- Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and integration activities.
- Perform component integration, vehicle platform testing, and system validation.
- Maintain software architecture across multiple product configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex embedded software issues.
- Conduct unit testing and functional testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent related experience.
- Experience developing embedded software applications using C and/or C++.
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and Model-Based Design.
- Knowledge of embedded operating systems and hardware integration.
- Experience with CAN/J1939 communication protocols.
- Experience with software component unit testing and functional testing.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Experience writing and reviewing software requirements.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle and delivery processes.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with control systems design and analysis.
- Experience with model-based software development tools.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read electronic schematics and component datasheets.
- Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and automated build tools.
- Experience using embedded development tools such as emulators, compilers, and simulators.
- Familiarity with automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
- Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Passion for embedded engineering and learning new technologies
