Software Engineer – Embedded Systems

Location: Cary, NC (Onsite)

Shift: 1st Shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexible)

Travel: Up to 10% (Local travel using personal vehicle, approximately 2–15 miles for occasional factory visits)

Safety Requirement: Metatarsal safety boots required (reimbursable)

Work Authorization: Candidates on valid work visas are welcome to apply, provided they have at least one year of remaining work authorization.

Experience Level: Mid-career professionals preferred. Recent graduates will not be considered.

Interview Process

Job Summary

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join a collaborative software development team focused on designing, developing, validating, and optimizing embedded software solutions for advanced vehicle systems. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, testers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality embedded software while supporting feature development, integration, testing, and system validation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform software requirements analysis and operational concept development.
• Design embedded software architecture and system components.
• Develop embedded applications using C/C++ and MATLAB Simulink.
• Implement new software features and resolve software defects.
• Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and integration activities.
• Perform component integration, vehicle platform testing, and system validation.
• Maintain software architecture across multiple product configurations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex embedded software issues.
• Conduct unit testing and functional testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent related experience.
• Experience developing embedded software applications using C and/or C++.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and Model-Based Design.
• Knowledge of embedded operating systems and hardware integration.
• Experience with CAN/J1939 communication protocols.
• Experience with software component unit testing and functional testing.
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
• Experience writing and reviewing software requirements.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle and delivery processes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
