About the role
- Signs and seals assigned project documents.
- Prepares complex design computations, plans and related construction documents.
- Prepares complex quantity and cost estimates.
- Prepares complex reports, studies and permits for various projects.
- Analyzes and interprets a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Prepares engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
- Coordinates staff activities to ensure project budget, schedule and quality goals are achieved.
- Assists in the review and preparation of engineering agreements for projects.
- Attends client and public meetings as necessary.
- Responsible for contract administration with clients and subconsultants.
- Monitors work‐in‐process and assists in directing and/or supervision of the work of other engineers activities on projects.
- May assist in client invoicing and monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on projects.
- May serve as onsite project representative and/or provide construction observation duties in the field.
- Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
- Ensures that projects documents and files are organized.
- Prepares and presents technical information to colleagues and clients.
- Assists Project, Design and/or Office Managers as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four‐year college or university or approved equivalent required.
- Should possess a minimum of15 years of related experience.
- Actively Registered Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer desired.
- PMP Certification a plus.
- Assists and promotes efforts which develop and mentor junior staff.
- Demonstrates positive work attitude and behaviors. Participates in team building initiatives.

- IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable driver's record.
- Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.
- Sometimes need to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
- Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
- Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
- Usually works in outside weather conditions.
