About the role

We are seeking a Senior Occupant CAE Engineer to support occupant safety simulation programs for our automotive client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in LS-DYNA modeling and occupant restraint system development, with experience in frontal and side impact simulations involving crash dummies like Hybrid-III and ES2re/SID2S.

This position requires hands-on experience in meshing, model building, debugging, and interpreting occupant injury metrics, along with excellent documentation and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, assemble, and debug occupant CAE models for frontal and side impact simulations in LS-DYNA.
  • Mesh interior trim components, including instrument panels and door panels, based on partial or full CAD data.
  • Model restraint systems such as seatbelts (lap & shoulder, pretensioner, CLT) and airbags (DAB/PAB/SAB), including shaping/morphing.
  • Conduct structural optimization of knee-bolster EA brackets to meet FMVSS-208 unbelted load cases.
  • Develop and tune steering column models with appropriate EA stroke and break-away functionality.
  • Construct interface models to capture BIW intrusion for side impact simulations.
  • Perform injury metrics analysis using dummy CAE models (Hybrid-3 5th/50th, ES2re, SID2S).
  • Document and present results to the client team, participating in daily status updates and technical discussions via MS Teams, were applicable
  • Deliver CAE result files and models as required to support internal and external reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in occupant CAE simulations with LS-DYNA.
  • Strong understanding of occupant safety systems, crash dummy models, and regulatory test procedures (FMVSS-208, FMVSS-214, IIHS).
  • Proficient in mesh generation and CAD interpretation.
  • Familiarity with pre-/post-processing tools (e.g., ANSA, HyperMesh, LS-PrePost).
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a collaborative client-facing environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with restraint system development and tuning (seatbelts, airbags, steering columns).
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation for model build workflows.
  • Knowledge of crash performance metrics and injury criteria interpretation (HIC, chest deflection, etc.).
