About the role
Company Overview:
The Senior Product Owner serves {functional area} as the voice of the customer to guide development teams in building software capabilities with the highest business and customer impact. They have a mastery in PO practices as well as the applications they support, and actively investigate and train others in ways to improve practices at DG. The Senior Product Owner anticipates or sees gaps in other teams and offers assistance until those gaps can be filled. They represent business needs and priorities, prioritize and manage the product backlog, recommend developers for backlog items based on knowledge of the developer’s experience, and incorporate feedback from business stakeholders to guide continuous product improvement. The Senior Product Owner is accountable for the delivery of business outcomes for multiple high, or one or more products of the greatest complexity.
Job Details:
- Develops metrics to measure customer satisfaction and bug-free implementation
- Educates and coaches teams on Agile methodologies to promote adoption across departments
- Determines dependencies on other teams
- Servant-Leader for multiple cross functional teams with a portfolio of products
- Develops Use Cases and authors agile stories while prioritizing the highest impact work for the team and stakeholders
- Accepts high-level objectives and works with stakeholders to convert business needs into product requirements
- Manages a variety of viewpoints to build stakeholder consensus
- Refine the backlog to enforce Sprint/story durations
- Develops and communicates product vision, strategy and related roadmap for the product
- Leads sprint review meetings and analyzes feedback to identify and understand product needs
- Primary technical contact for the engineering team
- Sets expectations with business stakeholders for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities
- Responsible for Release Planning and accountable for overall product delivery and speed to market
- Understands how features are performing, the level of customer satisfaction, and provides suggestions for improvements
- Ensures flow of work by maintaining at least two future Sprints in the backlog
- 7+ years of relevant experience in IT, Retail technology
- 7+ years of software delivery experience related to {functional area} to include {main application, e.g. WMS}
- 5+ years in diverse roles and increasing responsibilities across business and IT CSPO roles desirable
- 5+ years working in or with Agile software delivery teams using tools such as JIRA and Confluence
- 5+ years experience working with {vendor’s} {primary application} preferred
- Applicable Product Owner certifications (e.g. Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe Product Owner Certification)
