Job Summary
The Statistical Programmer provides programming help for research projects and other Baylor Scott & White initiatives. This role works with Investigators, Analysts, and Biostatisticians to prepare statistical datasets. The Statistical Programmer also helps perform analyses to produce summary tables and graphs under senior staff direction. The Statistical Programmer is expected to grow professionally by earning programming certifications or improving statistical knowledge. All job duties must be completed in a timely and professional manner.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Assists in creating statistical datasets by merging multiple files, and formatting and creating new variables.
- Works directly with investigators, project heads and biostatisticians to gather requirements needed to format data for investigation.
- Creates and maintains project related documentation such as programming requirements and annotations, data dictionaries and archiving documentation.
- Creates summary tables with descriptive statistics.
- Constructs common graphs/figures.
- Conducts simple, unadjusted statistical examination.
- Assists in review and validation of code by other team members.
- Attends meetings regularly and participates in technical discussions.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner and follows best practices for implementing and conducting project activities.
Key Success Factors
- Proficiency in SAS and/or statistical programming languages (e.g. R, STATA, Python).
- Knowledge of basic statistical analyses (e.g. summary statistics, graphs, t-tests, correlations).
- Good time management skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to partner with transdisciplinary teams.
