System Engineer

Chesapeake Search Partners has partnered with a fast-growing provider of IT infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity solutions in its search for a Systems Engineer. This individual will help drive the stability, security, and scalability of both on-premises and cloud-based environments while supporting strategic technology initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Windows and Linux server environments to ensure reliability, security, and performance.
• Manage core infrastructure services including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management solutions.
• Maintain and optimize virtualized environments utilizing VMware and Hyper-V technologies.
• Assist with the deployment, administration, and support of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms.
• Participate in cloud migration projects and hybrid infrastructure implementations.
• Configure and maintain access controls, security policies, and authentication technologies.
• Monitor infrastructure health, system capacity, and overall performance while proactively identifying areas for improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated server, infrastructure, and application-related issues.
• Support backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery initiatives.
• Develop automation processes and operational efficiencies to improve service delivery.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, standards, and system configurations.
• Partner with internal teams and clients to recommend infrastructure enhancements related to scalability, security, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Engineering, or Systems Engineering roles.
• Strong experience supporting Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware and/or Hyper-V.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 administration.
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments and infrastructure modernization efforts.
• Familiarity with backup, recovery, and business continuity best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across server, network, and cloud technologies.
• Excellent organizational, documentation, and time management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced client-facing environment.
• Relevant Microsoft, VMware, Azure, or infrastructure certifications are a plus.
