About the role
Job Summary (Technical Writer )
- Author and revise a variety of aircraft maintenance documents (maintenance, structural repair, NDT, tooling, and component manuals).
- Interpret engineering data, drawings, and functional tests to produce clear, accurate airworthiness instructions.
- Prepare and submit work packages for illustration creation to support technical publications.
- Conduct quality checks (self and peer reviews) to ensure accuracy and consistency of documentation.
- Follow established documentation procedures; suggest improvements as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering, core teams, and customer service to validate maintenance procedures.
- Aerospace industry experience is required.
- Prefer degree in aviation or equivalent technical authoring experience.
- A&P license or relevant military aviation maintenance experience preferred.
- Must be able to research and analyze complex engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of aircraft systems, operations, and maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with GAMA/ATA guidelines and manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in SGML/XML, Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker, or equivalent authoring tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional and diplomatic demeanor.
- Onsite role in Wichita, Kansas (12+ months contract).
