About the role
The Technical Writer serves as the custodian of technical documentation, RMF artifacts, ATO support documentation, user guides, developer guides, system documentation, operational knowledge, and knowledge-transfer materials. The team’s intended model explicitly combines technical writing and RMF expertise in this role.
Will be required to go onsite in Washington, DC
Position Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain RMF documentation, including PIAs, security documentation, security controls, system diagrams, MOAs, ATO artifacts, and compliance evidence.
- Develop and maintain User Technical Guides and Developer Technical Guides for applications and solutions.
- Maintain SOPs, process documentation, application inventories, configuration documentation, technical diagrams, and knowledge management materials.
- Support documentation governance, version control, document lifecycle management, deliverable quality reviews, and documentation currency assessments.
- Coordinate with ARI Cyber Security, ARI Plans and Operations, NetAct NCR HQMC, developers, systems engineers, and database personnel to support RMF/ATO sustainment.
- Support transition-in, transition-out, training materials, lessons learned, onboarding materials, and continuity documentation.
- Provide program administration support such as meeting minutes, action item tracking, deliverable tracking, schedule support, and PM backup support when required.
- Technical writing and editing.
- RMF/ATO documentation.
- Security control documentation.
- User guide and developer guide development.
- SOP and process documentation.
- Document control and version management.
- Knowledge management and transition documentation.
- Strong stakeholder coordination and interview skills.
- Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, Visio, and documentation repositories.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation for Federal or DoD systems.
- Experience supporting RMF, ATO, PIA, MOA, security controls, system diagrams, and cybersecurity documentation.
- Experience developing user and developer technical guides for applications or business systems.
- Experience with documentation governance, quality control, and knowledge transfer.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must have an Active Secret Clearance
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, English, communications, cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or related discipline

8+ years experience
- 5+ years experience Federal or DoD IT programs
Preferred Qualifications
- CGRC, CAP, or equivalent RMF/accreditation experience.
- ITIL Foundation.
- Microsoft 365 Fundamentals or equivalent M365 experience.
- CAPM or PMP preferred.
