About the role
Our Team
Since the 2026 season, Audi has been competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
The new team has three locations. The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Formula 1 factory of Audi Motorsport AG in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Audi Motorsport Technology Center in UK is in its launch phase and growing continuously. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

This position is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).
As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and strengthening Audi’s supply base for Formula One power unit components.
You will work closely with internal engineering, quality, and procurement teams to ensure suppliers meet Audi’s high standards of performance, precision, and reliability in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Your Mission
Supplier Development and Industrialisation
Support and ensure the selection of the right suppliers in collaboration with engineering and purchasing
Conduct supplier audits based on defined standards
Develop and manage strategic suppliers for critical power unit components
Lead supplier readiness for series production under aggressive F1 timelines
Conduct on-site supplier assessments across Europe and globally
Technical Interface
Act as the link between AFR engineering/quality teams and suppliers
Ensure manufacturability of complex components (tight tolerances, advanced materials)
Support suppliers in resolving technical and process-related challenges
Quality Assurance
Drive robust problem-solving using structured methodologies (8D, root cause analysis)
Ensure adherence to AFR and FIA quality standards
Monitor and improve supplier KPIs (quality, delivery, capability), generate reports on supplier performance
New Product Introduction (NPI)
Support APQP/PPAP activities for new power unit parts
Validate production processes through FMEA, control plans, and capability studies
Ensure suppliers are fully prepared for high-performance, low-volume production
Continuous Improvement
Promote lean manufacturing and process optimisation across the supply base
Identify opportunities for cost efficiency without compromising performance
Drive innovation and capability upgrades within the supplier network
Your Profile
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar
Experience in:
Supplier development, supplier quality, or manufacturing engineering
High-precision industries (motorsport, automotive, aerospace)
Strong knowledge of:
GD&T
APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC
Experience with complex manufacturing processes (e.g. CNC machining, castings, high-performance materials)
Key Competencies
Structured and analytical problem-solving
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Ability to perform in a high-pressure, performance-driven environment
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Willingness to travel internationally (up to 75% of working time)
- Completed auditor training
- Experience in powertrain or hybrid systems
- Familiarity with motorsport environments, ideally Formula One
- Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt)
- Knowledge of advanced materials (e.g. titanium alloys, high-temperature applications, composites)
